Welcome To Hodgson Vocational Technical High School

Welcome to Hodgson Vocational Technical High School – Home of the Silver Eagles! Hodgson Vo-Tech has a rich history of career and technical success and academic achievement. Our mission is to provide students with the academic and career experiences in a diverse and equitable school environment to ensure that they are College and Career Ready.

Presently, Hodgson is a dynamic career and technical high school focused on student success in many areas and ultimately in preparing our students for post-secondary education and careers. Our outstanding teachers and staff strive to provide high-quality teaching and learning experiences in academic and career and technical classes as well as through extra-curricular and co-curricular activities. The combination of committed and talented teachers, first-class facilities, and innovative technology allows our students to receive an education that is unparalleled.

Hodgson is a truly special school with deep roots in the community through our commitment to creating local business connections. Counted among its graduates are many prominent members of the community who’ve enjoyed success in the areas of construction trades, medical trades, science, automotive businesses, athletics, and more. For many of our families, Hodgson holds a special place in their history as several generations have attended our school. We are proud that so many “legacy students” have chosen Hodgson over the years and we look forward to many more in the future.

As for myself, I became principal in July 2020, but I have served in our school district since 2002 as a teacher or an assistant principal at three of our four New Castle County Vo-Tech high schools. I began as a social studies teacher at Delcastle after teaching three years in the Colonial School District. During my eight years at Delcastle, I served as the social studies department chair, an assistant field hockey coach, and a Future Educators of America advisor. I was then named an assistant principal at St. Georges in 2010, where I served for three years before coming to Hodgson as an assistant principal in 2013. I completed my undergraduate work at Frostburg State University where I earned a Bachelor of Science in Social Studies Education. I received my Masters in Instruction: Teaching and Learning from Wilmington College, and completed my Doctoral degree in School Leadership at the University of Delaware.

At Hodgson, we celebrate our long and successful history of teaching students career and technical education that prepares them for life after high school in either a secondary institution or career.  Every day I treasure working with our amazing Silver Eagle students and staff in all aspects of the rich and meaningful high school experience. We are very proud of our teachers, administration and staff who all continue to work towards a common goal of educating, supporting and mentoring our students during their high school years! We are the Silver Eagle Nation and We are #HVTSTRONG!
